SIDE PROJECTS

Things I build for fun

Outside Microsoft 365 work, I build apps for the things I care about: running, the hills and the occasional wedding. They're personal projects, not consulting products, and the apps are all free to try. I also sell prints of my landscape photography.

Free in early release

KnotBox

A wedding guest app for music and photos

Guests scan a QR code at the wedding to request and vote on songs, call out the cheesy ones (three calls and the requester goes to Music Jail), and share photos into one gallery that plays as a live slideshow on the venue screen. No app download or account for guests.

Intervaly

Interval training with voice coaching

Run/walk intervals with spoken cues, programmes such as Couch to 5K and Bridge to 10K, HIIT sessions, guided strength workouts with per-set logging, and short desk "movement moments". Works offline, with GPS pace and route maps outdoors.

Landscape photography and prints

When I'm not building apps, I'm usually up a hill with a camera or a drone. My photography site has galleries of my landscape work, much of it from the Scottish hills, with digital downloads, prints and framed prints to order.

How they're built

The three apps run on Cloudflare Workers with D1 databases, with Clerk sign-in for users and Microsoft Entra ID protecting the admin side. It's the same identity-first thinking I bring to client work, applied to my own apps.
